Ednah Cheney, a key figure in the Free Religious Association, was part of the
second generation of Transcendentalism who worked to keep Transcendentalist
ideas alive and evolving. She was also a writer who wrote a noted biography of
Louisa May Alcott.
Philosophy at Concord
- Cheney taught at the Summer School of Philosophy in 1879 and 1880, with
Bronson Alcott, T. Wentworth Higginson, F. B. Sanborn, Julia Ward Howe and
others, presenting two lectures on "Art" in 1880.
